I know, I know - TWO blogs in the same week?! I can't remember the last time I posted twice in one week. Actually, I used to post twice a week EVERY week in the first years of this blog. Looking back I have NO idea how I kept up with that schedule but I guess I had more time on my hands back then.

Before we get started, did anyone catch the reference in the blog title? Here's a hint - I replaced "Donnie" with "Doheny." No? No one? Aw come on! Gotta find my mid-2000's emo appreciators out there somewhere...
I did a little birthday shopping a couple weeks ago (I feel like I have said this a few times already...perhaps I did A LOT of birthday shopping, oops!) and decided that instead of feeling bad about all my pretty dresses that certainly won't fit anymore (hello extra fluff! WeLcOmE tO mY LiFe!), I'd splurge on a few new ones that will!

Although I had originally hoped it would arrive for the second-best holiday of the year, National Donut Day (obviously, Christmas comes first), there have been so many shipping delays lately that it did not even come CLOSE. It was all A-OK, however! Instead, this adorable handmade dress from Pastello Dress on Etsy came just in time for my birthday weekend!

Sometimes ya just need a new, reliable, summery staple for the hot days when you can barely think let alone bother getting properly dressed. And boy do we get plenty of those every summer!
I try to make sure I have a few easy dresses I can pull on and be good to do with. Typically they're sleeveless cotton dresses, ones that don't take much effort (and even better if they don't require a bra!).

It finally arrived! This gorgeous swing dress from British Retro that I ordered before all this COVID madness began finally made it to me! It was no one's fault, international shipping has been massively impacted by everything and it's arrival just took quite a bit longer than expected.

You never even got the chance.
Little one, you were supposed to be mine, supposed to grow and grow to emerge screaming, full of life in my arms.
I never even got the chance.
Little one, you'll never know how much you meant to me, how much you still mean to me, and how much you'll always mean to me even though we never met.
We never even got the chance.
(A huge thank you to DJ Kerr for helping me get my idea onto paper in the form of the line drawing above to symbolize the life that was never given the chance)

Quick mid-month check in time - how's everyone doing? Things have been interesting on my end! I was furloughed from my job a couple weeks ago. I didn't expect that to happen but then boom, the CEO called for an urgent conference call and all 40 of the employees on it were told they were laid off "temporarily" until mid-May. I put that in quotes just because...well, I can't say I believe it to be true. I don't see this ending by mid-May or companies getting back their footing so soon. But I suppose we'll see what happens!
I won't lie - I am mostly A-OK with what happened. I was getting burnt out at work and hadn't taken much time off in a very long time so having forced time off is kind of a blessing. Sure, I am a bit worried about my job not resuming come May but I also have been making the most of this unexpected time off.

Like many Collectif pieces, I spotted this Demira dress and fell madly in love with it. I bookmarked it and waited because when it comes to Collectif, I try so badly to wait until either the end of summer or end of winter. Why? Because they always have their 50% off everything sale at the end of those seasons and even though it's risky, I try to only buy during their sales so I can get more for my money.
It's hard when things I adore are sold out by then (it happens from time to time) but it usually works out to my advantage and I walk away with some great scores and a restock of my wardrobe for the following season.

Despite the current mania that is the world (let's not even get me started on that), I am feeling the spring fever and was delighted when Lindy Bop reached out about collaborating for the upcoming season again. Have you seen some of the new pretties on their site recently? It was SO hard to choose one thing to feature today.
Ultimately, I chose this Shannon Rose Plaid Check Midi Dress for a few reasons. For one thing, I am ALWAYS down to add another long sleeve dress to my wardrobe to keep me going on cooler days. Bonus points if the sleeves are comfortable and the dress isn't restrictive.

When I wore this outfit to work, so many people started asking me when it became Christmas again, which was so funny to me since I felt like I was giving off St. Patrick's Day vibes more than Santa Claus.
I have absolutely zero Irish genetics in my body but hey, why not share a St. Paddy's outfit to get ready for the big day for those who follow me that ARE? Happy St. Patrick's Day season, my peanuts!

Happy Galentine's Day, my little peanuts! I am honoring Galentine's instead of Valentine's today because I want to have some girl talk. There is something I've been dying to share for ages now but had no idea where to share it. I know there are tons of others who would benefit from it though and feel the need to share my experience and decided Galentine's Day was the right time to do it. I wanna talk periods.

I've had this blog for 6 years now (WTF HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?) and I think I've shared Valentine's Day treats nearly every single year! I'm impressed with myself! Knowing that I feel like I can't let anyone down (the whopping 20 of you that even read my recipe posts, ha!).
This year, I went for simplicity. I knew I liked the idea of a festive cookie or something pretty simple and then I saw this twist on the classic peanut butter blossom cookie concept and my mind was blown. OF COURSE! Why NOT make the blossom cookie with other flavors?

You know, sometimes I wonder if my blog titles confuse the heck out of people. They don't always make sense. I usually sit here, think of either the name of the dress I'm wearing (or the brand name of the dress I'm wearing) or what is on the print or fabric and whatever comes to mind first becomes the title. In this case, well, this dress is made with a white buffalo plaid fabric, so I started singing "Home on the Range."
DON'T ASK ME WHY. MY BRAIN IS WEIRD, OKAY?
