Mad About Margot (Emily and Fin)

I've got another beauty of an Emily and Fin dress for you this week! Last week I went to the dark side a bit and today, I'm more peachy keen. Or, I suppose it's more fitting to say orange-y keen?

Jenny from the Block (Emily and Fin)

One of my favorite brands to watch every season is Emily and Fin. I just love when their lookbook comes out every season. They always have the cutest prints and I love how they release a variety of styles in each so that you can choose the style that suits you most when shopping a new collection.

When Emily and Fin reached out to collaborate for the launch of their spring collection, I nearly fainted. I was so excited! Then I immediately panicked - how would I EVER choose from all the lovely new items hitting their site? It was so hard to choose! Emily and Fin kindly sent me two dresses to review, which I will share today and next week in a fun Emily and Fin two-part series!

What's Sara Reading? First & Then by Emma Mills

Recently, I had the honor to be a guest on a bookish podcast called "What Will You Read Next?" and while chatting with fellow bookworm Vanessa about our favorite reads (as well as my writing and publishing adventures), she mentioned how she enjoyed my book reviews with an outfit styled to match the cover and I realized I couldn't remember the last time I did one!

...Out Like a Lamb (Collectif)

What's that phrase about March? In like a lion, out like a lamb? That definitely seems fitting for how my month went. March 2021 hit like a hurricane with me moving into my new place with Rubix and picking up the pieces of my last life.

It was hard - it's STILL hard - but as the month wraps up, things definitely feel calmer and more at ease. I don't wake up with as much anxiety in the pit of my stomach and I fall asleep easier these days. That's not to say there are no bad days whatsoever. They still come and go. But my new routine has brought some relief to my life and it feels good to be on track again.

Leopard Love (Dolly and Dotty)

When I was a girl, I LOVED leopard print. I've always liked cats and all things feline in the animal kingdom but my leopard print obsession was a THING when I was a tween. I got heart eyes for anything leopard print that I could get my grubby little paws on (ha, get it? Paws? Oi vei...).

Starting from Scratch

I can't lie. It feels weird to be blogging as if everything is all right. Peanuts, everything is NOT all right. If I am being honest, it hasn't been all right for over a year and a half now. I'm going to tell you a little story.

Somewhere between the best day of her life and today, a vintage gal lost her way. Things were going so well...but then it all began to fall apart and no matter how much she desperately tried to grab a hold and patch the cracks appearing at an alarming rate, it all just crumpled between her fingertips.

Fits of Bliss (ModCloth)

It's about that time of winter when we all kind of get sick of it, am I right? I mean, I adore winter and all its snowy glory but once we get past Valentine's Day, I even get a bit tired of it.

I love being warm and cozy but I also love the ease of pulling on a dress and walking out the door without even needing a coat. Or walking back inside from running errands and NOT having to worry about tracking in dirt and slush and grime. Ew.

Petite Friendly Dresses from Collectif

This one goes out to all the shorties out there, for all the ladies under 5'4" struggling with finding dresses that are the right length. What's up, ladies? How ya doing?

OK MC moment over. But seriously, if you're petite like I am (5'2" over here!), you are always wary of ordering retro style clothes in fear they will be on the long side and end up making you look frumpy. Many vintage reproduction brands make garments on the long side to be historically accurate since the style back in the 50s and 60s was pretty conservative and the trendy look was full and long skirts. It's a beautiful look and one I adore tremendously, but so many times I order a dress or skirt and upon trying it on, am frustrated to find it a SMIDGE too long on me. I have learned that if a skirt passes 26" in length, I won't like how it looks fully.

Galentine's Day In (Collectif)

Happy (almost) Valentine's Day AND Galentine's Day! Traditionally celebrated on February 13th, Galentine's Day honors and celebrates the love between gal pals, girlfriends, soulmates, besties - whatever you call your friends.

Because this year I can't celebrate with my gals in person, I decided to throw a Galentine's Day celebration virtually on Instagram. The idea started when Kristina from The Eyre Effect texted me saying she wanted to do something fun to collaborate for Valentine's.

Merrily Meredy (Collectif)

Ah, here we are, peanuts! It is my favorite time of year when all the girls and boys splurge on pretties from Collectif's big 50% off sale and get to show them off to all their virtual friends. In honor of my new job, I did a bit of shopping in the sale and got more pretties than I ever had in a Collectif sale before at such awesome prices.

Vintage Made Easy with Dressystar

If you've ever bought a vintage-style dress on Amazon, you probably recognize the brand Dressystar. Dressystar creates and sells a large variety of dresses - from bridal and bridesmaid to formal attire to vintage-style everyday frocks.

Dressystar recently reached out to me for a collaboration and I happily obliged. Especially since I only just recently started my new job (and therefore have NOT started receiving a paycheck yet), I really wanted to take a closer look at Dressystar's quality and fit since their prices certainly are budget-friendly.

Could This Be the Best Chocolate Chip Cookie?

I don't know if it's possible to find THE best chocolate chip cookie. I just don't think it's possible. Why? Well, everyone has different preferences. If you told a group of people to imagine the best chocolate chip cookie, I am willing to bet very few imagine the same cookie.

Smoke & Mirrors (Fever London x ModCloth)

Happy New Year! Welcome, 2021! I can't say that I look forward to what you have in store for us but I welcome you, regardless.

2020 can go burn in a fire but the problems we faced over the last 12 months don't just go away with the year. Unfortunately, the road ahead is long and bumpy and full of sharp turns. We need to keep working together and support one another. Don't get too comfortable. That leads to carelessness.
