BFFL: LindyBop Route 66 Top & Levi's 721 High Rise Skinny Jeans

Recently, I went on a search for the perfect vintage/retro style pair of jeans. They didn't have to actually be retro, but they had to feel retro.

Like most gals, jeans are my least favorite thing to shop for. I don't wear them often but I like to have at least 1 or 2 pairs on hand for weekends or for the rare occasions that just aren't suitable for my normal attire of a swing dress and petticoat. I know, right? What on earth would stop me from wearing a petti on a given day?

Best of 2015: Food & Fashion!

After reminiscing last week on 2015 from a photographic aspect (check out my favorite SaraLily Photography moments from 2015 here!), I started reminiscing about my favorite style and recipe posts from the year. I figured, why not also do a round up of the year in two of my favorite things in this world: fashion and food!?

I know others did this weeks ago but meh, better late than never right?

When it came down to it, man, it was hard to choose but I managed to pick 1 post per month - besides a couple double favorite months. Then there was July. July was one of my favorite months on the blog - along with my Birthday month! - and it had so many good posts that I ended up with 3 from that month!

So without further ado, here is my favorite post from (nearly) every month in 2015!

Lady Sings the Winter Blues: Lady V London

It was probably foolish of me to take outfit photos on one of the coldest days of winter so far. It was probably equally foolish - if not more so - to decide against tights and a sweater when doing so. I just wasn't feeling layers, you know? I figured I'd just tough it out, snap snap snap, and run back inside.

Sigh.

Will I ever learn?

SaraLily Photography: Best of 2015

2015 was a good year for SaraLily Photography, my freelance portrait photography business. Though I wasn't able to squeeze any weddings in this year (although I did book a couple for 2016 so look out!) due to my travel schedule, I had plenty of sessions scattered here and there - most happening in the fall. What is up with that? I'll have months of nothing and then BAM! Everyone and their moms will want photos taken.

Gotta love it.

And I DO!! I love it so!

What's Sara Reading? January Edition

HOLY CRAP, IT'S 2016!

I just had to get that over with. Even though it's BEEN 2016 for a couple weeks now, it just feels so WEIRD!

Didn't we just put up our Christmas tree? Weren't we just counting down the days until Christmas? I feel cheated. I think time is really moving faster and faster on us. STOP, JUST STOP IT NOW!

Anyway, now that I have gotten that off my chest, here is this month's round up of what I've been reading. I have noticed a theme lately with the books I am reading. Has anyone noticed how much I read about food? Oh mylanta! Last month I shared a book about coconut cake, and this month I'm sharing at least 2 books centered around food.

Man, I am such a fatass. Some may prefer to call themselves foodies, but, yeah, I'm just a fatass at heart. What can I say? I love food. I love making it, eating it, photographing it, and I also love reading about it, apparently! Because why the heck not?

Cherry, Pick It Up...

Have you ever created an outfit based on a feeling? Sure, we all have. How about taking inspiration from a story or character? Oh I don't doubt we all have done that before! Hmm, what about using music as inspiration? Ever plan an outfit based on a song?

Photos with Dad

A few weeks before Christmas (and in-between my trip to Seattle and Omaha), I met up with Courtney, her dad, and her 5 brothers to take some family photos in a local park. Courtney has been a super duper close friend of my sister, Emma, for ages. She's been at her side for so long, in fact, that she is pretty much an adopted 4th sister and tends to make appearances at our family gatherings.

Needless to say, I was more than happy to capture some portraits for the holidays.

Little Miss Mixing Patterns

I'm one week into January and have already broken my "no dress shopping" rule for the 1st of the year. Now that the holidays are over, I like to go on a sort of spending freeze to let my bank account beef back up to where I like it. In my defense, I actually made the purchase in question BEFORE New Year's Eve so I guess technically I'm still following the rules?
