Spring in My Step with Small Victories Handmade

It started to feel like Spring in Boston a couple weeks ago - the sun was shining, temps rose to the 50s and even 60s (Fahrenheit), birds started singing, and the air even smelled like spring - so I decided to break out one of my favorite Bernie Dexter dresses and really welcome the Spring, even if it would be a only a tease (and it was, because this past Saturday, temps were back down to 17 degrees!).

Is it ridiculous that there was still snow on the ground during this mini heat wave? Of course! But it wouldn't be Boston without a little bit of ridiculousness, now would it? We just embrace it and appreciate warmer days when we get them.

Whether it's truly Spring or not is still to be determined but it didn't stop me from breaking out the Spring florals. I just had to in honor of my new custom pinup girl brooch from Small Victories Handmade.

I discovered Small Victories Handmade last year and really fell in love with this UK shop when the owner/designer, Hannah, released some of the cutest and most darling holiday brooches. Y'all know I can't resist anything holiday!

Well, now I am all about the Spring and have some really cute Small Victories Handmade brooches to share in the coming few months because I am now one of their official brand ambassadors for Spring! I can't wait to share more - keep an eye out here and on my Instagram to see more of Hannah's ridiculously adorable designs!

I knew I needed one of Hannah's custom pinup girl brooches. I mean, a pinup girl with glasses!? Yes, please! Us visually challenged pinups are brooch-worthy, too!

Glasses aside, what's NOT to love about this brooch? Not only can you customize the hair color and skin color, but you can also choose the color/style of the scarf so perfectly tied upon her head. You can even customize the glasses color, if you so wish!

Working with Hannah on this custom brooch was so effortless and simple! When you place the order, she asks you simply describe how you want your brooch in the order notes so I did just that by asking for brown hair, fair skin, and a purple hair scarf with white polka dots.

After submitting my order, I also appreciated that Hannah reached out to make sure she knew what shade of purple I had in mind. What attention to detail!? Hannah is my kind of girl!

When my custom pinup brooch arrived, it wasn't only just as I imagined - it was better! She came out perfectly and oh my stars, even looks a bit like me! Cody saw me fastening her to my sweater and stated, "you're wearing yourself."

I am so excited to wear her with all my purple outfits because as many of you know, I wear a heck of a lot of purple!

Kudos to my Bubbie (aka creative director on this shoot), who humored me and sat happily in my (warm and running) car after I  decided to pull over and snap these photos on our way to her apartment after my father's birthday celebrations. What can I say? When you spot THE spot, you gotta take action!
