Monochromatic Magic: Purple Passion

Is there a particular color you lean toward when you buy clothes? It may be your favorite color, a color you've been told you look good in, or it may just be a total fluke and coincidence.

For me, there are two colors I tend to leap toward when given the option: red and purple. I have a lot of red and purple in my closet. In fact, if I've got a red and purple version of just about everything in my closet (tops, skirts, dresses, petticoats [of which I actually have 2 of each - 1 long and 1 short for each hue], bangles, belts, tights, shoes, hair scarves or flowers, lipstick...need I go on?).

When noticing this (I have to confess this didn't come as a surprise to discover), I got the idea to wear a monochromatic outfit.  I am toying with the idea of doing a series of these so keep an eye out. You may see me dressed in one color from head to toe again in the near future.

If you haven't caught on yet, for this post I focused on purple. I love purple. Red is my ultimate favorite color but I must say, purple is a very close second. I wear a lot of purple. I don't even really know why. I just know that when I am deciding between colorways, if there is a purple option, that is what I graduate toward.

Unless there's a red option. In that case, I will probably volley back and forth on them both, torturing myself to no end on how to make the right decision. I may even throw some fits in the decision process.

I beg you, how does one KNOW which color to pick? How does one GUARANTEE they will love the color they ultimately go with?? SOMEONE TEACH ME THE WAYS!

Fun fact - this retroversible skirt from Julie Mollo actually DID come in a red version. You best believe I agonized for DAYS over which one to get before opting for the purple. I mean, it is SUCH a lovely purple. How could I resist?

The only thing missing from this purple outfit are purple glasses. Dang it! My first glasses were actually purple though - does that count??

So, my peanuts, tell me - what color dominates your closet? Don't tell me I am the only one. No way, Jose. I can't be the only one who could dress in one color from head to toe - am I??

  1. I think purple is my favorite color on you! Don't get me wrong, you look great in red, too, but you can even pull off purple lipstick! I'd say my closet has a lot of red, blue and black. I probably have too much black, but I want to start incorporating more greens and yellows.

AND you are rocking the heck out of that hat! Just saying.

  2. Gorgeous, darlin! Love purple on you!! <3

  3. These photos are absolutely stunning and I love this outfit so much! I have a lot of different shades of blue in my wardrobe! x

  4. Such beautiful photos of you in the it!! Such a lovely outfits on you! My two favorite colours are red and pink! :)

  5. Purple is such a magical hue on you that I can totally understand how you'd go for this skirt over the red version! I love this outfit SO MUCH and can't wait to see what other monochromatic looks you come up with! (And who knows -- maybe purple glasses are in your future as well as your past!)

My two favorite colors are red and green, and believe me, it's a struggle not to wear them together all year 'round!

  6. No purple glasses? I'm disappointed in you...haha! :)

You probably gravitate towards purple because you look awesome in it! I can't wait to see what other monochromatic outfits you put together.

As much as I love color, I think black/white patterns dominate my closet! I have stripes, polka dots, florals, etc...and I love how they pop against my colorful skirts, tops and accessories! The one color that I probably have the most of is red. Everyone looks good in red!

  7. What pretty pictures you got! I hate snow, but you sure do look cute in it. That hat is super adorable on you, too. I hardly have any purple in my wardrobe, as you know I have TONS of red, ha. So, we have the red in common. This outfit is so lovely on you! Purple is a great color for you.

  8. So beautiful! Purple looks gorgeous on you and I love how you played with different shades.
