Lady Sings the Winter Blues: Lady V London

It was probably foolish of me to take outfit photos on one of the coldest days of winter so far. It was probably equally foolish - if not more so - to decide against tights and a sweater when doing so. I just wasn't feeling layers, you know? I figured I'd just tough it out, snap snap snap, and run back inside.

Sigh.

Will I ever learn?

I didn't plan it this way. I meant to have this dress photographed over a week ago but got hit with a nasty head cold that forced me to delay everything planned for last weekend to this past weekend. Needless to say, some things just never got done. Photographing this dress was one of them.

I didn't worry too much. Since I was working from home on Monday, I figured I'd just throw on the dress and snap some photos at my lunch break.

ERROR ERROR - DOES NOT COMPUTE - ERROR!

As luck would have it, the flurries we were supposed to get turned into 4 inches of snow and Monday turned out to be a very frigid and windy day. Now, the snow was fluffy and light and yes, it was a sunny day, but I should have never let that fool me!

OH THE WIND!

I tried not to scream as I felt snow being blown right up on my back.

Ugh! The things we do for our blogs!

As I stood out there, I wondered, "Really, Sara? Why didn't you throw on a black cardigan and buckled this little belt over that? Huh? WHY?"

Because I'm a moron, that's why.

All that aside, though, how great is this dress from Lady V London? I scored two dresses of their site during their post-Christmas sale for nearly half off. I have never ordered from there before but will definitely be ordering again! I love their fit and quality. The two I got fit me perfectly and I am super excited to have more blue options in my wardrobe.

Even though I'm freezing to death in the pictures, I am excited to have this dress for the winter. The dark floral print just screams winter to me and the material is a bit on the heavier side. When I do wear this appropriately and have a cardigan over it, I know it will make one cozy yet stylish winter outfit.

Now, don't get me wrong with all this winter bashing going on. I do not miss summer at all. Nope. Not even after nearly freezing to death in my snowy driveway will get me to say I miss summer. I am still a fan of winter.

But perhaps next time I need to photograph a new dress, I can opt for a day that ISN'T the coldest/windiest/snowiest day we've had all winter?

  1. OH. MY. GOSH.
I'm freezing just looking at these photos! How in the world did you manage to photograph this dress without a coat, let alone a cardigan or something! Brrr.
Anyway, the other thing that struck me was how beautiful the dress is! It is really lovely and you look stunning in it! I adore the big floral print, in the bold blue - very unique!
    Hope you're staying warmer now!
    Much love,

  2. I will do mostly anything for my blog, my husband will NOT. HAha! If it's cold, he's like "NO IT IS COLD LET'S GO UGH" and I'm like "but... pictures!" and he's all "come on, I know you can't feel your toes."

Sigh. You look freaking amazing. Like, everything about this is just PERFECTION. I adore it. And I'm glad you survived the winter-ness! But, you know, next time wear a sweater. ;)

  4. I feel your pain!! It always sounds so easy to quickly go outside and snap some photos...as if we forget! Well aside from you very cold photo-taking-session, they did come out fantastic, and you don't look like your freezing at all! Maybe your lipstick covered blue lips? And this dress is fantastic on you!! I love the shoes!

  6. Spectacular colours in this dress! They're beautifully vibrant on their own, but pop all the more again the snow. Fantastic dress and styling, sweet dear - those shoes were the perfect footwear choice.

Big hugs & happy last week of January wishes,
    ♥ Jessica

  8. This sounds exactly like what I do - wear a pretty summery dress (although I think the blue definitely has that frosty winter vibe too!) when the snow finally comes down! I think this is a gorgeous look, especially as the shoes match so perfectly too :)

  10. I see so many bloggers taking pictures with multitudes of gorgeous winter coats over perfectly coordinated outfits and I'm amazed at that anyone has enough coats to style multiple unique outfits a week. But, maybe it's purely motivated by the desire to stay warm while taking pictures. I hadn't thought of that before lol. It's certainly something I haven't tried!

Cold or not, you look amazing.
