Family Photos at Wolf Pen Farm!

Happy December! Since it is officially December and the Christmas countdown is on, I thought it'd be the perfect time to share some casual family portraits I captured a couple weeks back at a Christmas tree farm called Wolf Pen Farm in Southborough, MA.

I was extremely excited to work with this family - mainly because Mom, Sayra, hired me at EMC! She is now our team's director (and no longer my direct boss) but she is still very much involved in my development at EMC and still has an office roughly 10 steps away from my desk. She's made a great impact on me in these past 2 years there so I was over the moon when she asked if I'd photograph her family this year.

I mentioned always wanting to photograph at a Christmas tree farm and from there...magic happened. Sayra and Brian were totally on board! We snapped a few shots of the kids at the house in the leaves and then headed to the farm, where folks were already bustling about, tagging their tree.

I had no idea this was a thing. Apparently, before the farms open for cutting down the trees after Thanksgiving, you can go and claim your tree! Not even kidding! You pretty much write your name down a tag, pay for the tree, and tag the tree! Did you know about this? It's such a crazy concept.

While I worked with their crazy four kids among the trees, Sayra and Brian actually found a tree and tagged it! Nothing like taking care of two things in one shot - their Christmas card photos and tree are now taken care of! Love it!

Sayra's family is so much fun. They're a blended family (Sayra and Brian got married last December) but the kids behave as if they've been glued to the hip from birth. It's adorable seeing how close they really are!

The girls were way more into posing for the camera than the boys were (is that surprising, though?) but they all made it through the morning pretty well considering it was a blustery day. They took the chill like champs.

Once we snapped a few shots of the entire family and Brian finalized the tree tagging process, which he reported was pretty extensive just to get your name on a tree, we piled into the car to warm up and headed home, where there was apple cake waiting.

It was such a fun morning! I love getting to know kids. Once you get past their crazy kid antics, they have so much to share and say. It was almost difficult to leave after we were finished! I better watch what I say. Sayra and Brian might try to turn their photographer into their new babysitter...
