A Purrrrrfectly Retro Skirt from Cheshire Vintage

First things first - pop quiz!

Q: When do you know you have too many cat-themed skirts?

Give up?

A: NEVER!

OK, one more...

Q: How many are too many cat-themed skirts?

Come on, you know this...

A: YOU CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MANY CAT-THEMED SKIRTS!

All right, quiz over. I think the lesson is understood.

I now have 3 or 4 skirts covered in kitties, I believe, and I am not ashamed of that fact. What can I say? If it's got cats on it, I am most likely going to want to buy it.

I snagged this vintage Bob Mackie skirt from another Etsy vintage shop I follow, Cheshire Vintage, during their moving sale. Typically, I would have probably had a chuckle at it, appreciated it's cat-awesomeness, and moved along.

Why? Well, it's not my typical style these days. I'm much more of a circle skirt, swing dress kind of gal for one but also long dresses and skirts just never work on a shortie like me.

With the sale going on, though, it seemed utterly stupid to not get it. I mean, come on, look at those cats! They're in bowties, for crying out loud! So I went for it!

I figured if it was swallowing my 5'2" frame whole, I could always give it a hem and make it shorter. That was actually my nearly guaranteed plan but when I tried it on to photograph it for this post, I was surprised to find that I kind of liked it long!

Somehow, it falls just by my ankles (yay, I'm not dragging it on the ground!) and it doesn't look cause me to look too frumpy. It's not perfect (so jealous of you tall girls in your maxis!) but I'm sort of digging the length. It's something different, that's for sure!

It sure felt nice and breezy out in the sun when I ventured into nature to snap these pictures. There was a nice breeze coming off the water and I had just shaved my legs - ever feel silky materials blow against your freshly shaved legs before? Heaven.

Sorry, TMI?

Nah...

Anyway, I'm thinking of calling this look Pinup Hippie from the 80s. What do you think?
